Funding

The Sail Training Association Germany (S.T.A.G.). S.T.A.G is dedicated to support German youth, adults, ship-owners, and port cities, counts over 4000 members, more than 30 member-ships, and several member ports and supports young people who cannot fully finance a sail training trip on a sailing ship themselves. Funding comes from donations and membership fees. Note that not all ships listed above are part of the S.T.A.G.

S.T.A.G

Youth support is aimed at young people and young adults up to the age of 26 (with proof of training or studies up to and including 30 years of age). The funding is intended to give low-income applicants in particular the opportunity to take part in Sail Training on an S.T.A.G. ship.

For more information about funding from S.T.A.G. check the conditions formulated on their website.

Sail Training International

If you want to embark on a tall ship that is not supported by S.T.A.G., there are also funding opportunities that apply for an international context. Check for instance the opportunities of ‘Sail Training and Rotary (STAR)’ that support collaborations between Rotary International and sail training. As a trainee, getting involved with STAR can provide you with fantastic opportunities to gain support for your sail training voyage.
